Your First Lesson

Never picked up a trumpet before? Never fear, Kayla teaches you how to hold the instrument, maintain it, and make your first sounds. Spend a week with this lesson until you feel that you've mastered it!

Breathing

Kayla shares some helpful tips about breathing, for those of you who have never played a brass instrument.

Learning Notes

In this lesson, Kayla teaches you your first twelve notes on the trumpet, from C to C.

Navigating Partials

How do we move from one note to another if they both use the same fingering? With simple exercises and demonstrations, Kayla clarifies this concept to get you making music in no time!

Basic Music Theory On The Trumpet

If you're new to music theory, this is a great place to start. Kayla teaches just the basics that you'll need to read your first pieces.

Key Signatures and Scales

What do key signatures tell us? And how are they related to scales? Kayla answers these questions and more, touching on the difference between whole steps and half steps as well.

Learning Your First Pieces

Using her own interactive system of clapping, singing, and fingering, Kayla takes you through your first elementary songs on the trumpet.

Common Problems and Solutions

Beginners tend to run into all sorts of common issues when they're first getting started. Kayla explores some of these in hopes of anticipating some of your questions.
